Remember those books
"Choose Your Own Adventure"?
You would read some pages
And come to a forced decision fork
And had to choose from two options
And each choice
Led to a different page
A different storyline for you to read
A different ending
Sometimes shocking
Sometimes fun
As a kid I would often go back
To the decision points in the book
And make a different choice
And read the alternative storylines
And see where that choice led.
But today it kinda feels like
We collectively chose a nasty storyline
And because we are not kids anymore
Rather than follow the dictates of the book
Someone else's pre-written storyline
What if we throw out the book?
And write our own story?
