The dawn rises
A new day is here
And hearing the news
Of his passing
I am reminded
Of his wisdom
To bring awareness
To our breathing in
To be mindful
Of our breathing out.
He reminded us
We can live joyfully
Happily
Free
When we can treat ourselves
Gently
Tenderly
Nonviolently
Without struggle
Or fighting ourselves.
I light another stick of incense
And ponder his words:
"Tell yourself that a new day has been offered to you!"
"You have to be here to live it." he wrote.
So I pause
I am here
I am now
I am aware
I am breathing in
I am aware
I am breathing out
Mindfully
Present
Grateful
For life.
