It takes courage
To walk 
in the opposite direction
That everyone else 
seems to be walking

It takes bravery 
To ignore 
all the signs that say:
DO NOT ENTER!
WRONG WAY!
GO BACK!
NO U-TURNS!
DANGER!
NO TRESPASSING!

But somehow 
after facing 
The terror
The grief
The pain
The fear  
And voices 
Of correction
And doubt

I find myself 
Not lost
As I imagined
Not alone 
As I believed
Or wrong 
As I was told

But Safe
